Fancy Dress?
This is an officially licenced race but that doesn’t mean we don’t also welcome runners wearing fancy dress. Many opt for a Santa hat or tinsel garland, so why not dress up for our race? Whatever you wear, please make sure we can still see your race number on your front!
We hope you will enjoy the race. If you have any comments, good or bad, do let us know, tell me in person, or via anyone wearing a marshal’s bib, and please feel welcome to give us a review on the Runners World website too.
Good luck!

Race Numbers
Can be collected from 9am on Race Day at Race HQ (East Christchurch Sports and Social Club, Grange Road BH23 4JD).
All runners must wear their race number securely pinned to the front of their vests, DO NOT fold your number in any way – Folded number or no number means disqualification. You must not use someone else’s number, (it is against UK Athletics rules) nor must you let someone else use yours. Imagine the anxiety caused to either set of relatives and friends in the event of mis-identification should there be a medical emergency.
If you are unable to run, and would like to give your number another club runners, please inform the Race Organiser at least 3 days in advance of the race. Number Transfers are only permitted if the Race Organiser is informed of the new runner’s details.
At the Finish
All competitors will receive a mug of hot soup and a Christmas pudding.
Everybody likes to be first – first in the race, first in the queue, first to leave – DON’T be the first to have a motoring accident after your successful Christmas 10K run, please be patient and leave the area as safely as possible.
Prizes and Results
Prizes for the first man home and first lady home will be presented at the finish line. All other prizes will be sent after the race.
Results once confirmed will be posted on this website.
The Race HQ will be at the East Christchurch Sports and Social Club, Grange Road, Christchurch, BH23 4JD
There is Limited parking at Race HQ (please Car share if possible) with overflow parking in most side roads. There is limited changing and shower facilities, so please come ready to run.
There is a road closure notice in force for Ambury Lane (i.e. no motor vehicles will be allowed near the start/finish area) and the lay-by is being reserved for our emergency services vehicles and the lead car.
Please allow at an extra 20 to 30 minutes for parking at Race HQ and walking to the start line.
As always, the route is well marshalled, has directions signs and there is a water station at the 3-mile point. Every mile is marked.
Medical cover is being provided by volunteers from Bransgore First Response Unit.
Supporters are most welcome.
Rules
This is a race organised under UKA rules which affect competitors as well as the organisers! Please do observe these basic rules for your safety and to help our time keepers compile results that can be made available promptly.
All Runners are reminded to fill in Medical details on the back of the race number. This information may prove invaluable should you require medical assistance on the day.
- Participation in the race means that you are deemed to have accepted these terms:
- Your name, address, and date of birth are required for compiling race results
- Results from our race are provided to ‘The Power of Ten’ website
- Your data is not sold or passed on to any other organisation
- Photographs taken on the day may be used by the race Organisers for publicity purposes
Wear your race number where it is visible to marshals always i.e. pinned on your front (expect the number to be marked at the finish; unfortunately, we now have to stop people trying to take two or more goody bags).
Do not allow anyone else to take part in the race using a race number that the organisers have assigned to you. (Transfers are only permitted if the Race Organiser is informed of the new runner’s details. Please use the transfer form enclosed to transfer your number)
Please be courteous to the Marshals and obey their instructions, they give up their own time so that you can enjoy the run. We couldn’t put on a race like this without their help and they are fast becoming an endangered species!
If you are unable to finish, please notify a marshal before leaving.
This race is a PMD free zone! – please do not use personal music devices – runners who are photographed or seen to be wearing headphones, earphones, earbuds or any other audio device during any part of the race will be disqualified. It is essential that runners are able to hear any instructions given by our marshals, as well as traffic noise and warnings given by other road users (runners, bicycles, horses etc).
Keep to the left-hand side of the road, unless overtaking. Anyone who disregards such instructions will be disqualified, both for your safety and because the course has been accurately measured (it is a clockwise circuit therefore not keeping to the left may be considered cheating) NOTE: There will be NO Police in attendance so please take extra care on the roads, especially when going around corners.
After the finish line remain in finishing order until your runner number is taken. Enter the funnel, which you are directed into by the officials. The finish line is at the start of the funnel (NOT the end!) – so if you then overtake, someone else will not be allocated their correct time. If someone has stopped ahead of you, ensure the timekeepers have recorded their number ahead of taking yours.
Only cross the finish line once. It is fine to encourage a friend who finishes after you have, but then do not approach the finish line area again. There is plenty of space for supporters, so please keep the atmosphere alive by cheering with them, away from the course, once you have finished.
